Mike the Headless Chicken Festival – June 3 – 4

This quirky festival set in late May or early June in Fruita, Colorado is one of the most unique celebrations out there, to say the least. Hundreds of people gather and take part in activities in honor of Mike the Headless Chicken, an infamous “historical figure” in Colorado’s colorful past. This year’s event is scheduled to take place Friday to Saturday, June 3 to 4, 2022.

Greeley Blues Jam – June 4

Greeley Blues Jam

The folks at Greeley Blues Jam are on a mission: to preserve Blues music and connect with the community through this genre and other genres inspired by it. To that end, they’ve created a two-day festival held in Greeley, Colorado in early June that “ain’t nothin’ but a party!

Animas River Days – June 3 – 5

The annual event that started in 1985 will happen once again from Friday thru Sunday, June 3rd – 5 2022 at Durango’s Whitewater Park. Watch skilled individuals and teams compete in kayaking, surf competitions, boater cross, and raft sprints. At the end of the contest, there will be a river parade and a retro rodeo for all the participants so they can chill out and have a good time.

Colorado Medieval Festival – June 3 – 5

Those looking to get transported back in time should head to Loveland this summer to catch the annual Colorado Medieval Festival. Taking place over 3 days, on-site performers include magicians, belly dancers, and sword fighters as well as live bands. And don’t worry about food and drinks as there are plenty of options to indulge on during the festival.

Aspen Fringe Festival – June 10 – 11

Back for its 14th year, the Aspen Fringe Festival’s JUNEFEST is a two-day performance art event that takes place at Wheeler Opera House. Founded in 1994 by David Ledingham, the Aspen Fringe Festival aims to inspire and encourage artists and individuals around the world. This year’s festival highlights the work of Tony Award®-winning playwright Simon Stephens.

Juneteenth Music Festival – June 17 – 19

The Juneteenth Music Festival is one of the country’s largest celebrations of Juneteenth, the day when the enslaved people were told of their freedom nearly two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This popular Denver event attracts 50,000 attendees who want to celebrate Black pride and the end of slavery.

Strawberry Festival – June 17 – 19

Held annually since 1898, Strawberry Days is one of the longest-running festivals in Colorado! And they’ll be back once again for their 125th year to celebrate this delicious berry. The festival takes place during the third weekend of June every year in Glenwood Springs.

Denver Pride 5k – June 25

Celebrate pride this summer by signing up for the Denver Pride 5k! Held during the same weekend as the Denver Pride Parade and Festival, this run is a great way to support the LGBTQ community. Proceeds from the Denver Pride 5k go to The Center on Colfax, the largest center in the Rocky Mountain region that offers health and wellness services to LGBTQ people of all ages. Taking place on Saturday, June 25, 2022, registration starts at 8:00 am, while the race begins at 9:30 am off the steps of the Colorado State Capitol Building.

Reds, Whites, and Brews – June 25

Created in 2012, Reds, Whites & Brews in the Boat is another festival that celebrates some of Colorado’s favorite pastimes in lovely Steamboat Springs. Showcasing plenty of local and national bands, Reds, Whites & Brews also let attendees sample unlimited wine and craft beers. You’ll even get a collector-tasting cup with your entry.

The Keystone Bacon & Bourbon Festival is held on Saturday and Sunday, June 25 through 26, 2022, in Keystone’s River Run Village. The event will be flooding with bacon and bacon-inspired cuisine to celebrate this all-time favorite meat. The tour can also include free whiskey tasting depending on the package you wish to avail of and free live music for everyone’s entertainment.

Colorado Tiny House Festival – June 25 – 26

The festival, which started in 2016, is the perfect place to view all sorts of smaller living spaces including skoolies, container homes, tiny homes on wheels, van conversions, teardrops, and yurts. Food and drink vendors abound, so you can grab something to eat while you browse the structures. If you’d rather bring your own, plan for a picnic at one of the tables they have.

Pikes Peak Hill Climb – June 26

Pike Peak International Hill Climb happens every last Sunday of the month of June. It will take place on Sunday, June 26th, 2022 at Pikes Peak by Cascade, Colorado. Back for its 100th year, there are multiple divisions and exhibitions that will occur during the event. Feel free to head up Pikes Peak Highway any other weekend, as it’s open year-round, weather pending.
