Each year, Sotheby’s International Realty hosts its Global Networking Event (GNE) during which time real estate brokers from across the world gather to connect, share their knowledge with one another, and discuss the latest trends, technologies, and techniques shaping the real estate industry. This time,  GNE went virtual to keep attendees safe while still providing the education and incredible networking experience that only Sotheby’s International Realty can offer.

It is the privilege to collaborate with so many brokers from different regions of the globe that makes our professionals the best, and the most well-connected, in the business. In case you missed it, here are some highlights from this year’s GNE:

Global Growth & Continuing Opportunities

Of course, we had to reflect on the record-breaking year that real estate had in 2020. Sotheby’s International Realty CEO, Philip White, kicked off the event by commending the hard working brokers for persevering during this difficult time and adopting new techniques to continue serving homebuyers and sellers, even from a distance.

“We were able to become even more skillful at what we do and focus on what we do best to help propel us through the pandemic…This was not a surprise, this was not chance, this was not luck, this was many years of hard work, getting prepared for something like this,” said White. “What I’m focused on is continuing the legacy and building the future of Sotheby’s International Realty.”

Together, Sotheby’s International Realty was able to achieve:

  • $150 Billion in Global Sales Volume in 2020
  • The Sotheby’s International Realty global referral network grew by 42%
  • Seven new countries were added to the list of office locations

A Star-Studded Event

Several high-profile celebrities made appearances throughout this year’s GNE including award-winning actress Nicole Kidman, Javier Muñoz, Miguel Cervantes, and Mandy Gonzales of the Broadway musical “Hamilton,” and star chef, Ina Garten, from “Barefoot Contessa.”

Nicole Kidman, gave some behind-the-scenes details of the making of her latest hit television series, “The Undoing,” which was filmed on location in a New York apartment listed by Sotheby’s International Realty. She also talked about the importance of knowing the value that you bring to the table, no matter your industry.

Nothing Compares to Sotheby’s International Realty’s Marketing

Brad Nelson, CMO of Sotheby’s International Realty, unveiled the latest marketing campaign, “Nothing Compares,” during this year’s virtual event. This campaign focuses on what the Sotheby’s International Realty brand is known for: an unmatched luxury experience. That experience, which is delivered no matter the clientele, the price point of a property, or the region, is what sets the brand above the rest.

“Our agents are at the center of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand experience that clients expect, ” explained Nelson. “[This new marketing campaign] will ensure that we can powerfully connect with each of them.”


In addition to this exciting new campaign, Sotheby’s International Realty also announced new media partnerships that will help its listing achieve the attention that deserve within some of the most well-respected names in media such as Architectural Digest, Curbed, and Frieze.

LIV Sotheby’s International Realty Represented Innovation on the Global Stage

While there were many fascinating breakout sessions in which panels of brokers from different markets shared their experiences and knowledge in their area of expertise, we would be remiss is we did not highlight LIV SIR broker, Delroy Gill, who participated in the breakout session, “Maximizing a Virtual Business,” in which the panelists discussed their favorite technology and tools to pivot their business virtually.

“Denver became a destination hub with a shift in the how the market was reacting to the pandemic,” said Gill. “[Using social media and a tool called HighNote], we were able to target those feeder market and already be top of mind for the client when they got into town and that really helped our growth throughout the year.”
