Gary Huresky – People of LIVLindsey Turner
At LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, our people make the difference! Learn more about one of our remarkable brokers, Gary Huresky, in his personal Q&A.
How long have you been in the real estate industry for? 18+ years as a licensed realtor, however, it feels like a lifetime!
What initially drew you to the real estate industry? As I was growing up on the New Jersey shore, my dad had dabbled in the real estate side of buying fixer-uppers. He would buy these pretty rough properties and my brothers and I would get to demo them. To a young kid, being allowed to destroy anything without getting in trouble was pretty cool, so I thought. There were some home runs, base hits and certainly some strikeouts! Regardless, I have always had a liking to different types of architecture, landscapes, views, and unique properties…essentially real estate.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in your career? Sharing the lifestyle that I live with my clients and building relationships along the way. Running a successful real estate career in a little mountain town that I have called home for the past 29 years is truly an accomplishment of its own.
What makes LIV Sotheby’s International Realty unique? The networking is a huge plus for me. Not only do I feel like I have colleagues in many markets around Colorado, Park City, Ventura, and Ojai but more of a family that I can count on. The tools provided as a LIV Sotheby’s International Realty agent enable you to do the best job for your clients as possible. The support staff at your disposal is incredible. This is a tough business and the last thing you want is to feel like you are alone. Working with LIV SIR, that is simply impossible!
Personally, what drives you in this industry? Enabling buyers and sellers to meet their real estate goals in a timely fashion has always been the biggest drive. For buyers, it is sharing Crested Butte and the surrounding beauty it provides. For sellers, it is helping them move on to the next chapter in life and knowing that Crested Butte will always be here for them. Regardless of if my client is a buyer or a seller, just knowing that I was an integral part of their decision to make memories in the place that I wake up in every day pretty much does it for me.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about my family, my career, anything outdoors and my lifestyle! I am passionate about the opportunities presented to me and what can be created from them.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of the office? Pretty much anything outside I would call fun. Mountain biking, dirt biking, Jeeping, camping, paddle boarding, surfing, hiking, biking, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, music, traveling, football, hockey, and BBQ’ing just to name a few.
What’s your favorite part about living and working in Colorado? Colorado is such a wonderful state. I feel completely spoiled to live and work here in Crested Butte. Taking in the fresh air, surrounding beauty and certainly the Colorado sunshine are all bonuses. However, the biggest for me is living in a place that I can recreate right out of the back door and taking advantage of all the above mentioned in person.
What community do you live in? What do you like about it? We live in River Rim, a subsidiary of Crested Butte South. It is a neighborhood filled with families that enjoy the area as much as we do. It has parks, a hockey rink, skating pond, Nordic ski trails, restaurants, a coffee shop, public transportation, and access to arguably the most quality of trails in the valley up Cement Creek – there you have it, the cats out of the bag!
