Joanne Young – People of LIVLIV Sotheby's
At LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, our people make the difference! Learn more about one of our remarkable brokers, Joanne Young, in her personal Q&A.
How long have you been in the real estate industry for? I have been in the real estate industry for 13 years.
What initially drew you to the real estate industry? After two different careers, I thought that real estate was the perfect fit for me after moving to Telluride in 2000. I had been coming to Telluride and doing business here since 1985 so I was very familiar with the real estate and the towns in general.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in your career? My biggest accomplishment in my career has been completing the Ninja installation held here in Telluride back in June. I have just started on this journey but everything else pales in comparison.
What makes LIV Sotheby’s International Realty unique? The amount of support that LIV Sothebys International Realty gives to its brokers is amazing. The buying power provided by the volume of brokers and negotiations of the marketing department are priceless. The IT and legal departments are something I have never had access to previously. The LIV Magazine Resort Issue has a reach that goes far beyond Telluride.
What is a trend that you are keeping your eye on right now in the industry? In this resort market, we see a need to focus on the millennials as well as the new retirees. Our mountain homes are aging and in need of updating. The latest trend is more modern architecture.
Personally, what drives you in this industry? What drives me in this industry is the pleasure I get from helping buyers and sellers achieve their goals – buyers of finding their dream home and sellers being able to move into their next dream home. My clients are my friends and I love helping them immerse themselves in our community and taking the pressure off of sellers so that they can continue to live the lifestyle of their dreams.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of the office? Skiing, golf, tennis, hiking, biking, reading, and impressionistic painting take up most of my free time.
What’s your favorite part about living and working in Colorado? The active lifestyle draws residents and visitors alike to Colorado so they tend to be very health-conscious and fit. The activities in the mountains are boundless and most people take full advantage of the variety of possibilities.
What community do you live in? What do you like about it? I live in Aldasoro Ranch which is a 10-minute drive to Telluride and Mountain Village. It was an old sheep ranch and developed by the Aldasoro Family. The lots are larger and all positioned to have uninterrupted views of all of our iconic mountains and the ski areas. Because it is located on the sunny side, we bask in all day sun during the summer and winter.
