Lorrie Denesik – People of LIVLIV Sotheby's
At LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, our people make the difference! Learn more about one of our remarkable brokers, Lorrie Denesik, in her personal Q&A.
How long have you been in the real estate industry for? I started my real estate career in 1994 as an assistant to a top producing broker in Telluride. I was given exceptional training and I learned many tricks of the trade including negotiating techniques, market analysis, pricing strategy, and marketing approaches to achieve the best results for sellers and buyers. I then owned and operated my own small business for 13 years before becoming a licensed broker in 2007. Managing and marketing my own business was a foundational step to entering real estate sales. During this time period, I also built, bought, remodeled and sold several personal homes. This process has given me an invaluable understanding of both a buyer’s and a seller’s needs and concerns. I believe that I have a unique perspective to understanding my client’s asset in our Telluride luxury market.
What initially drew you to the real estate industry? My love of understanding the potential for upside and buying and selling “right” held my interest in real estate. With my own extensive personal experience and my now successful professional experience has led me to feel inspired in guiding my clients in their real estate goals. I am thrilled to find a buyer that exceptional deal which meets their goals and dreams. I also am pleased to achieve the highest and best price for their property sale.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in your career? I am proud to have been featured on the only Telluride episode of HGTV’s “House Hunters” for my sale of a $3M luxury home in the town of Telluride. I was selected to feature the buyer’s process in finding his family vacation home with historical attributes and modern conveniences. The show was well received and a second show, “Where Are They Now” was created for the buyer’s remodel process of the home.
What makes LIV Sotheby’s International Realty unique? I feel it is very exciting to work along with the LIV Sotheby’s International Realty brokers who exude confidence, passion and high-quality standards for their work.
What is a trend that you are keeping your eye on right now in the industry? The movement in our market to simpler, more contemporary and possibly more modest luxury homes which are more suitable to the active Telluride resident. We are seeing buyers desiring homes and properties that require less maintenance and reflect the ease and quality of the Telluride lifestyle.
Personally, what drives you in this industry? I am driven to close the deal. The steps leading up to the closing stimulate the drive to get it done. Brokers must be aggressive, crafty, honest, and enthusiastic all at the same time. Real estate sales can be a delicate and intricate balancing act which I pride myself in walking well.
What are you passionate about? The outdoors, nature, yoga, traveling and having fun in work and play, and especially Colorado’ s blue skies.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of the office? My perfect day would include morning meditation, yoga practice and then diving into emails and working on real estate; if it is touring properties or considering new projects. A mid-day visit to the gym for a Peloton ride and weights in the gym or a hike up the mountain or a skiing a few runs invigorates and inspires me. I enjoy abstract painting and looking at architectural and design ideas and styles to prepare for my next building project. I also love to travel and will spontaneously book a trip to an exotic place to explore and experience new horizons and different cultures. Opening my awareness and eyes to the world and beyond is interesting.
What’s your favorite part about living and working in Colorado? Coloradan’s are vibrant, youthful and love the natural environment. The sheer beauty of the state and the town of Telluride is awe-inspiring and I hope to never take the breath-taking views and our proximity to pure nature for granted. Nature restores our mind, body, and soul and we in Colorado are very lucky to have such a grand resource out our back door.
What community do you live in? What do you like about it? I live in Mountain Village, Colorado where there is beauty and convenience. I can walk out my door to ski, hike or bike tremendous terrain like nowhere else on earth. We have an incredible form of public transportation including the gondola which flies us over the village to the grocery store, Town Hall or the ski runs.
