LIV SIR’s 2015 Denver Designer Show House to Feature Fine Art curated by art consultant Ann Benson Reidy

Art is synonymous with design. Both will be on high display at the 2015 Denver Designer Show House (DDSH) September 25 – 27 and October 2 – 4, 2015. Recently announced, top Denver art consultant and advisor, Ann Benson Reidy, will curate artwork for the event.

“Art brings soul to a home,” said LIV SIR broker and event organizer, Maggie Armstrong. “It tells a story, creates texture, perspective and personality. We are so fortunate that Ann is curating the Show House again this year – she is pulling together an exciting portfolio of local art in partnership with our interior designers. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.”

This multi-weekend event will share the latest in interior design and local art with the community by welcoming the public to tour two distinct properties in Cherry Creek that have been transformed by Denver’s top interior designers and artists.

Katy Stone, Trumpet (Red Sound), Acrylic on Duralar and paper collage, 36 x 24 This year’s Show House features a pair of modern attached townhomes at 512 and 514 Cook Street. The townhomes start out free from existing furniture and décor, and then receive a full refresh by 18 of Denver’s top interior designers and artists.

This year’s home tour will feature a color palette selected by Sherwin Williams, which will set the stage for the designers to test their skills working within varying color mediums. One townhome will be designed with a neutral palate, and the other with color. The homes will then be stylized with furniture, lighting, rugs, art, and accessories- all available for purchase after the event.

Local Cherry Creek North businesses, including boutiques and restaurants, will participate in the event, offering a taste of Cherry Creek living with DDSH participants .

The event benefits Children’s Hospital Colorado, a nonprofit hospital for children located on the Anschutz Medical Campus near the interchange of I-225 and Colfax Avenue in Aurora. Over $200,000 was raised by Denver Designer Show House in past years for the hospital and DDSH will add to those numbers in 2015.

Matt Christie, The Two of One, Mixed media on panel, 48 x 24 This year’s designers include Nadia Watts Interior Design, Post 31 Interiors, D+D Interiors, Knape & Zibell, Company KD, Waterworks, Andrea Schumacher Interiors, Duet Design Group, Quincy House Design, JB Noble Interiors, Ltd., Casey St. John Interiors, Carolyn Morris from Alvarez Morris, Megan Kane Interiors, The Brass Bed, Regan Mattingly of Chalet Colorado, Mitchell Gold, Atelier Interior Design and Currant Designs.

Art curator, Ann Benson Reidy, returns to the Show House for her third year in a row.

“The Denver Designer Show House is an opportunity for the interior design and art community to come together to support one of the true philanthropic gems of Colorado,” said DDSH curator, Reidy. “I love working with multiple designers and understanding their vision for their rooms, but Children’s Hospital Colorado means more to me; they saved our daughter’s life. Diana had Leukemia at age 2 and is a survivor now at age 10. I do this for my passion for art but most importantly for the opportunity to pass on gratitude to Children’s Hospital Colorado and to support the health of all children in the Rocky Mountain region.”

Local artist Jeffrey Keith is one of the artists who will provide art for the event’s silent auction, including a colorful oil painting on mylar, representative of his signature abstract painting style.

“Art is the language we use to say that which cannot otherwise be said,” said Keith. “To pull up a chair at the table and enter into the color conversation is to find yourself at a boundless four-dimensional banquet, vastly deep, impossibly wide, and stretching all the way backwards and forward to the ends of time.”

The event kicks off with an Opening Night Cocktail Party Thursday, September 24, 2015. To purchase tickets and for more details on the home tour, preview party, and other unique offerings, visit www.denvershowhouse.com.
