One FSIR Listing Shines Bright this Holiday SeasonLIV Sotheby's
Every year around the holidays, Brighton resident Craig Carlson receives an anonymous letter in his mailbox thanking him for lightened hearts every time they drive by his illuminated “Christmas Barn”.
“We drive by your property five days a week, and throughout the year, we always enjoy looking at the old barn, the fields, the horses, and the beautiful estate,” said the letter author. “But during the holiday season, your barn is a special treat and we look forward to seeing it all decorated with lights. Somehow the barn holds a special Christmas magic for us, and seeing it always makes us smile.”
It’s no easy feat to transform your property into a holiday wonderland, but Carlson manages to do it and has been putting up the lights, since 2001. “It takes my caretaker almost a week,” said Carlson. “It started out as a few lights, to wish our neighbors a happy holiday, but has turned into a yearly thing.”
To maintain this cheerful tradition, over 8,000 bulbs are used to illuminate the barn, home and property features. The barn is the main focal point due to its high visibility from the road and “cars are always stopped or moving quite slow,” said Carlson.
