A holy city to more than half the world, Jerusalem is shrouded with mystery. To shed some light on the revered city, home to Christians, Jews and Muslims alike, a screening of the IMAX film Jerusalem, will take place October 1st at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science at 8pm. The highlight of the evening will be a live audience discussion with Writer and Director of the film, Daniel Ferguson, on the challenges of producing such a film in the current environment in the Middle East.

image001The 45 minute Natural Geographic IMAX documentary captures the essence of the 5000 year old city through the eyes of three young women from long established Jerusalem families, a Muslim, a Christian and a Jew, none of whom met before or during the film’s production.

This is the second time Richard Swomley, broker for Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty and his wife, Elaine Swomley, a broker with FSIR for eight years, will introduce Ferguson and his contemporary film to the Denver community.

“Having worked with Daniel on his earlier highly challenging film, Journey To Mecca, said Swomley, “Elaine and I are sponsoring this event for the second time to share one of the most diverse and internationally oriented cities in the country with the community we love.”

Years of hard work and determination went into getting Jerusalem on the big screen, including five years of working with government officials to get permission to film in the city as well as special permits to capture areal footage above the Old City’s no-fly zone. Ferguson traveled to Jerusalem more than a dozen times to capture his footage, even moving his family for a short time.

“Whether we realize this or not,” said Ferguson “this tiny place has shaped our culture.”

The Swomley’s sponsored 100 guests and the event is open to the public. For more information on Jerusalem at the Denver museum of Science and Nature visit the ticket booth or to schedule an appointment with Richard or Elaine Swomley, call 303.916.8204
